IM in the Library??
Now this I agree with! I have been using IM to keep in touch with my college student son, my high school friends and even AOL! When you have a question that needs a quick response, email is like sending a letter. You only get an answer as fast as someone reads their mail and decides to respond. When technical material is needed or when you are doing research online, how wonderful to have a "real person" to IM and get some sense of "you are not alone in this!" I believe Central Library is already starting to use reference IMing. I haven't used it yet, and my job doesn't include providing it, but I can't imagine that is could be more difficult than telephone reference...unless you can't type very fast...............
Technorati...hummm
Ok, it was my first time, but I wasn't impressed. Maybe I should reword that. It is obviously a powerhouse of a site when it comes to current news and entertainment blogs and sites. I'm not sure if it accesses personal sites as easily. Of course it could have been the subject matter I was trying to search for. I am always looking for sites and information on dealing with vertigo. It is something that word of mouth suggestions and advice are often better than what doctors can tell you. So I'll give it another shot, on another day.
The internet comes to me?
Now this is a handy tool. I'm not in the habit of ready blogs on a daily basis, but there are topics that I go back to time after time. Usually heath issues or current events. I set up an account with Google reader and we'll see how that goes. I really liked the search engine (outdated word I'm sure) that does key word searches for topics. It is like everything else on the web though, tons of info to sift through. Hope my brain can hold it all! I have started writing things down though...

7 and 1/2 Habits
That certainly was a head full of concepts. The seven habits were not all the ones I expected, but they make sense. The easiest for me is to make goals..I'm a compulsive list maker, I can teach others once I learn it myself and enjoy that, and I almost never view problems as dead ends..I usually just start thinking of ways to get around a problem. The hardest will be to create this toolbox. Organization isn't my strong point, and remembering how to access everything will be a be challenge for me. Also accepting responsibility for my learning is sometimes hard, because I tend to put most of my needs on a back burner in the face of needy husband and children issues. I will have to try and carve out time....
